Graduate Program of Faculty of Animal Science UGM accepted new students from the Master in Animal Science Study Program. The event was on Thursday (3/2) through an online meeting. The head, the secretary, and the supporting staff of the Master in Animal Science Study Program also attended the event.

Ir. Nafiatul Umami, S.Pt., M.P., Ph.D., IPM., ASEAN. Eng, as the head of the Master in Animal Science Study Program, explained the lecture activity. The lecture starts from the even semester will be held through a mixed method. The offline or online meeting will be discussed further with the lecturers in charge of the course taken. The mixed learning method still obeys the Covid-19 protocol and the current condition of the pandemic situation.

Postgraduate Program of Faculty of Animal Science UGM held socialization of the Master in Animal Science Study Program on October 15, 2021. The activity was carried out online attended by about 20 institutions from the government and universities. Prof. I Gede Suparta Budi Satria and Prof. Budi Guntoro attended the event to give a speech and introduction.

Profile video of Faculty of Animal Science UGM was played to start the socialization and was continued by singing the anthem Indonesia Raya and the Hymn of Gadjah Mada. Prof. I Gede Suparta Budi Satria, the Dean of the Faculty of Animal Science UGM, conveyed the essence of the socialization material that will be delivered by Ir. Nafiatul Umami, Ph.D. as the Head of the Master in Animal Science Study Program. Prof. Budi Guntoro, the Deputy Dean for Academic and Student Affairs, gave an introduction regarding the study path and the benefits obtained when studying at the Master Program of Faculty of Animal Science. Budi explained that the degree obtained for the study is Master of Science (M.Sc.) with the Master of Animal Science Study Program UGM is the only higher education institution in Indonesia that can award this title for animal husbandry.

The Faculty of Animal Science Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) held the UGM value lecture for new students of Master, Doctor, and Professional Engineer program in animal industry study programs Odd Semester Programs for the 2021/2022 Academic Year. The event was held online on September 4, 2021. Participants who attended this lecture were 115 students and lecturers from the Faculty of Animal Science UGM.

The UGM lecture began with a video showing the history of UGM that was established on December 19, 1949. The event continued with the remarks from the Dean of the Faculty of Animal Science UGM, Prof. Dr. Ir. Ali Agus, DAA., DEA., IPU., ASEAN Eng. Ali Agus said that UGM was born during the struggle for Indonesian independence. UGM is committed to implementing the values ​​of Pancasila, namely Divinity, Humanity, Unity, Democracy, and Social Justice. Alumni of Gadjah Mada University must have and carry the values ​​of Pancasila. In addition, students of the Faculty of Animal Science in undergoing lectures and after becoming alumni must carry out the Sapta Pesona Diri. The Sapta Pesona Diri consists of seven values, namely the values ​​of honesty, discipline, responsibility, enthusiasm, critical thinking, courtesy, and real work.

Faculty of Animal Science UGM held a Mixed Learning Workshop. The activity was held online on September 2, 2021. The workshop was about Online Learning Innovation in Generation Z. Siti Rokhmah Projosasmito, MD., M.Ed.(L,P&C) from the Department of Medical Education and Bioethics, Faculty of Medicine, Public Health and Nursing UGM became a speaker for mixed lectures.

Siti Rokhmah conveyed the three important things in carrying out lectures. Learning content can be made attractive and interactive to attract students’ attention. Specific class duration like the time for delivering material, discussion time, time for giving assignments, and flexible time to establish communication with students are also important. Lecturers need to do closure of learning to re-emphasize information. This is to minimize misunderstandings in receiving material. This section is also providing information on upcoming lectures. Thus, students can prepare themselves for attending lectures. Other mixed materials were also delivered to face online lectures with students from generation Z.

The Graduate Programs of Faculty of Animal Science UGM held a joint lecture series for Philosophy of Science course with topic “Ontology, Epistemology, and Research Philosophies”. This event was held online on August 31, 2021. Prof. Dr. Budi Guntoro from UGM Indonesia became the speaker and Dr. Winitra Leelapattana from Maejo University Thailand became the moderator.The lecturer attended by students from China, Taiwan, Thailand, Philippine, Vietnam, and Indonesia. Budi Guntoro said that if we want to do research, we need to follow the philosophy of science. In Philosophy of Science, there are Ontology and Epistemology branches. Ontology is a study of what exists, in general. In Ontology have to study about the reality before we go through in deep scientific knowledge. Meanwhile, Epistemology learns about how methodology, method, tools, and instrumentation of research. The students were given chances to ask about the lecture and did discussion. Some of the questions were the implementations of research philosophies in the research. In the answer session, Budi Guntoro said that there are two kinds of scheme of research which are deductive research and inductive research. As closing statement, Budi stated that we are now in studying animal science, social science, tourism and other study. Actually, we have the same philosophy with only different way of how to find the scientific way. As Master and Doctor degree student, student needs to follow scientific method.

Study Program of Master in Animal Science UGM conducted the academic socialization and welcoming event for new students 2021/2022 Academic Year. This event was attended by 34 new students. The event was held online on August 14, 2021.

Ir. Nafiatul Umami, S.Pt., M.P., Ph.D., IPM., ASEAN Eng. as the Head of Master in Animal Science Study Program explained the academic information to the new students. This information was related to their study interest and the total credits that might be taken by students. Master in Animal Science provides two programs based on the curriculum, by-research and by-course programs. A by-research program is a program that would be focused on research for the credits taken, while by course program is a program with courses as the main focus. Nafiatul also gave support for the students to arrange their study plan well so they can graduate in time.

Rina Widyaningrum became the Best Graduate of the Master Study Program at the Period IV Graduate Program Graduation, Academic Year 2020/2021. This event was on Wednesday, July 28, 2021, through Zoom Meeting. Rina got a Great Point Average (GPA) of 4.00, with the predicate of Cumlaude. Rina was able to complete her studies in a fast time of one year and ten months. Rina completed her thesis with the title “Estimated Genetic Parameters, Outputs, and Population Dynamics of Aceh Cattle at the Superior Cattle Breeding Center and Forage Animal Feed Indrapuri” under the guidance of Ir. Dyah Maharani, S.Pt., MP., Ph.D., IPM. as the first advisor and Prof. Ir. I Gede Suparta Budisatria, M.Sc., Ph.D., IPU., ASEAN Eng. as the second advisor.
