Himpunan Mahasiswa Pascajarna (HMP, graduate student association) Faculty of Animal Science UGM organizd English Course program to improve students’ capacity communicating in English. 20 students joined the program that was held since October 19^th, 2018 until the end of the semester. Funded by the Graduate Program, the English Course was held twice a week.

“English course has an objective to equip students with English grammar, emphasizing on writing skill. Hopefully, it will help them in academic writing, such as writing a research article which is required to graduate,” said the President of HMP FAPET UGM. read more

Graduate Program at Faculty of Animal UGM always envisions itself to be part of science development and community engagement. To achieve that goal, the program provides annual grant available for lecturers and students in the program. There are 2 grant schemes: research grant and community service grant.

Proposed by lecturer, the grant required student participation in each program. Thus, the program also benefited students to have a hand-on experience in grant writing, research, and delivering science to be applicable for society, especially farmers. read more

During September 2018, graduate students that joined in Himpunan Mahasiswa Pascasarjana (HMP; Graduate Students’ Association) Faculty of Animal Science UGM were devoted their time in community service in Prambanan. Funded through Graduate Program’s Grant scheme, students organized various weekly activities for Ngudi Mulyo Farmer’s Association in Klero, Sumberharjo, Prambanan Regency.

In executing the program, students were supervised by a lecturer from Faculty of Animal Science UGM, Ir. Nafiatul Umami, S.Pt., M.Sc., Ph.D., IPM. The program was initiated by student’s concern on the poor animal production in the target community. For instance, the forage management is still carried out traditionally. Thus, it does not efficiently support the animal production. Furthermore, farmers in the target community have lacking knowledge on the packaging and branding method that possibly could be used to improve the marketability of cattle’s faecal-based fertilizer they produce. read more

Thursday (4/10/18) Garaduate Program Faculty of Animal Science UGM arranged academic workshop on the Outcome Based Education (OBE), attended by lecturers at Faculty of Animal Science UGM. The Head of Quality Assurance Faculty of Animal Science UGM, Ir. Edi Suryanto M.Sc., Ph.D., IPU. said that the workshop was intended to perfecting  the existing learning process. OBE is one of approaches to prepare students with the demands of the working world, including to face industry 4.0 era.

During the agenda, lecturers were trained on formulating module handbook and course material document. Those two documents will be components in equipping of each course implementation. The module handbook itself comprises not only syllabus of each course, but also the weekly lecture plan to the student assessment method that will be done on each course. read more
